This time of year, most companies plan some type of holiday celebration for their
employees. The classic “office party” is usually either really great or really awkward
depending on how well it is planned and prepared for. Use these great office party
games to help ensure that your holiday office party will not be a dud this holiday season.

Name that Carol: You're divided into teams of four. The game leader says these lyrics,
“To go gliding in a one-horse open sleigh." Each team now has two minutes to guess
the song title. After the game leader reveals this is from Jingle Bell Rock, the team(s)
who guessed correctly win. Play until the first team gets to twenty points.
Christmas Photo Props: These Christmas photo props aren't necessarily a game, but
it is a great way to get your guests to loosen up and have an awesome night.
These photo prop signs can be printed and then placed on popsicle sticks. Give them to
your guests and let everyone have fun snapping photos of each other.
I think this would be a great activity for guests to do when they first arrive at the party,
and then bring them back out later in the night to see just how crazy the photos can get.
White Elephant: A white elephant gift exchange
is a party game where white elephant
gifts are exchanged during festivities. The goal of a white elephant party is usually to
entertain rather than to gain. The game continues with the following rules:
- If someone steals your gift, you can steal someone else’s gift or choose and
open a wrapped one.
-Continue until everyone has had a turn for a gift. A turn is ended when an
unopened gift has been opened.
- A gift can only be “stolen” once during a turn. If a gift is taken from someone
during one round, she cannot take it back during that same round. She can,
however, take it back in a later round if she is in a position to select a gift.
- A gift cannot be immediately stolen back from the player who just stole it.
- Once a gift has 3 “owners”, the 3rd owner of a gift gets to keep it – it is retired
and can’t be stolen again.
- The gift exchange ends when the last wrapped gift is chosen and opened.
-After the last turn, the person who started (since she didn’t get a chance at the
beginning) can put back the gift and “steal” a gift according to the rules. This starts the
gift exchange again (following the above rules) and ends when someone chooses or is
forced to take the gift given up by the person with #1.

Funny Employee Awards: Recognize your coworkers for their achievements this year
—sincere or silly! Was there one person who always made the coffee in the morning or
who used up all the printer paper every time? Create certificates to present during a
mini ceremony and present each person with a funny gag gift to commemorate the
award. You can also ask other coworkers for nominations or suggestions if you’re
having trouble coming up with ideas for each person.
